I never thought I'd put my Air Fryer to use to make a salsa- like EVER! Yes, I've used it to make homemade dehydrated peppers and even some crispy noodles that you'd get as a side to go with a soup in an Asian restaurant, but a salsa- NEVER!
A while back, I used my Air Fryer to make homemade fire roasted tomatoes and they turned out insanely delicious, which is what inspired me to make this salsa.

What's So Great About the Recipe?
The best part about this recipe is how easy it is to make. This salsa is actually the perfect way to use up any extra tomatoes that you may have.
I usually make a big batch of my tomato Passata sauce and oven dried tomatoes, but this time I wanted to put together something that was super easy and effortless. And what could be better than a nice dip!
Recipe Ingredients


Tomatoes: Pick fresh, ripe tomatoes. Roma tomatoes are perfect for this recipe, but if you can't find them, you can make do with almost any other kind of tomatoes too.
Onion + garlic: The classic- for that pungent, savory flavor. I used white onion, but you can also use red onion if you want a stronger onion flavor.
Jalapenos: For the kick of heat. Sometimes, when I have some green chilies leftover after making my green chili Thecha, I use them instead of the jalapenos.
Seasonings: I used a mix of salt, pepper and some sugar to balance out the flavors. You can skip adding the sugar if you want to.
Lime juice: For that tangy, citrusy zing.
Cilantro: For the freshness and pop of color.
Oil: Ideally extra virgin. I like to use my lemon infused olive oil for some extra tangy flavor.

Substitutions & Variations
- You can also consider adding other veggies into the mix to bulk up the salsa and bring a bit of flavor variation. I love the idea of using red bell peppers and pineapple (for that sweetness) and apricots along with the tomatoes and onions. I actually made an apricot salsa and it turned out delicious.
- For extra flavor, consider seasoning the salsa with an infused salt like parsley garlic salt or jalapeno infused salt.
How to Make Air Fryer Roasted Salsa

Step 1: Lightly brush olive oil over the veggies and arrange them in a single layer in your Air Fryer basket.

Step 2: Air fry for about 10 minutes or until the veggies have softened and look slightly charred.

Step 3: Remove the charred skin and transfer the veggies to a food processor. Add the cilantro, lime juice and seasonings.

Step 4: Blend until you get a chunky salsa. Taste and adjust the seasonings.
💭Top Tip
Check the Air Fryer at the 5 minute mark. If the garlic looks browned already, remove it out and continue cooking the rest.

How to Store Leftover Air Fryer Salsa
Store the leftover Air Fryer roasted salsa for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, ideally in a clean glass jar or an airtight container. I wouldn't recommend storing it beyond that, as it can get too watery and there's an increased risk of spoilage.

Tips & Tricks to Nail the Recipe
- To quicken up the air frying time, you can dice the tomatoes and onion before you add them in.
- If your tomatoes are too juicy, you can core them before you use them for the recipe.
- Don't be too particular about removing all the charred parts off the tomatoes. It's okay if a few of them are leftover- they'll actually add a nice smoky flavor and taste to the salsa.
- To make things quicker, I just blended everything in my food processor. If you prefer more control over the texture, just use a sharp knife- like I did when I made my Turkish salsa.
- To ensure the tomatoes are evenly cooked and charred, flip them over midway during the cooking time.
How to Serve Air Fryer Roasted Salsa
This smoky Air Fryer salsa is the perfect accompaniment to any Mexican or Tex-Mex style dish. I love teaming it up with my tortilla chips and spooning some of it over my tacos, enchiladas and every time I make my Migas con Huevo.
You can also use it as a dip to go with practically any kind of chip, and even with a grilled meat. I personally love serving it with my breakfast eggs or a simple avocado toast to just bump up the flavors.
