Jalapeno Butter
Rich, spicy and slightly tangy, this homemade jalapeno butter is going to be your next favorite condiment to spread over your breakfast toast or brush over your grilled corn.
Best of all, it comes together in under 5 minutes, and is so, so versatile- just like my avocado butter spread. Whip it up quickly when you have some fresh jalapenos at hand, and refrigerate for weeks.

Jalapenos are officially my favorite! Every time I go on a grocery run, I buy a nice bag of jalapenos to scratch-make my staples- jalapeno lime sauce, some creamy jalapeno mayo and a jar full of jalapeno pickled eggs.
This time, I still had a handful of the peppers leftover to put to use, and that's when I thought of using them up to make a nice compound butter.

What's So Great About the Recipe?
- It's ridiculously easy to make. Just 5 minutes in the kitchen is all you need to make a nice log of this jalapeno butter.
- It tastes incredible! It has the kick of heat from the jalapenos, richness from the butter, smoky, savory flavors from the garlic and the citrusy zing from the lime.
- It's really versatile- just like my lemon caper sauce. Use it for your sandwiches, meats and pretty much anything else.
Recipe Ingredients

Jalapeno: Fresh jalapenos, for the heat and that bit of texture. Sometimes, when I don't have fresh jalapenos, I end up using my homemade jalapeno flakes.
Butter: Salted butter works best.
Lime: For the zest. You can also use lemon if that's what you have.
Garlic: For that savory deliciousness. Use Air Fryer roasted garlic to lend a nice smoky flavor to the jalapeno butter.

Substitutions & Variations
- You can also add a dash of jalapeno honey into the mix to make jalapeno honey butter.
- Want to make a vegan version of the recipe? Use any plant based butter as the base instead of regular butter, and follow the rest of the recipe as-is.

💭Top Tip
If your taste buds are sensitive to heat, you can remove the seeds and white membrane from the center of the jalapenos and use only the green part.

Tips & Tricks to Nail the Recipe
- If you're using unsalted butter, you may want to add a bit of salt to season the butter. I love using my homemade jalapeno salt or citrus salt here, but you can of course, just stick to classic table salt if you don't have any infused salt at hand.
- You can also add some finely chopped parsley or dill (or both) to the mix to make it more herby and delicious.
- If you don't like the chunky bits of jalapenos in the butter, you can blend the garlic and jalapenos together in a blender jar to make a smooth paste, and then fold the mixture into the butter- I did this when I made my pesto butter.
- Not too sure about using raw garlic? You can sauté the garlic for a minute or two along with the butter in a saucepan, take it off heat, let it solidify and then wrap it as you would. I did this when I made my homemade Cajun butter too.
How to Use Jalapeno Butter
Jalapeno compound butter is truly one of the most effortlessly versatile condiments out there. Use it for your homemade popcorn, slather it on some grilled corn or add it to your skillet green beans.
I personally love melting it up a bit and brushing it over grilled meat (like my Air Fryer lemon pepper chicken legs)- just like I do with my Cafe de Paris butter.

Troubleshooting and FAQs
Store your leftover jalapeno butter in a glass or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Yes! Transfer the softened butter into ice cube trays or silicone molds and store for up to 3 months.
You can, but only if you're planning on using the jalapeno butter right away, as it doesn't stay good for too long.
