Ingredients For the Ginger Lemon Honey Syrup Recipe

You’ll need just a handful of simple ingredients to make the lemon ginger syrup.

Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice forms the base for this recipe. It is high in vitamin C content, which is great for the cold and flu season, when your immune system needs just a little extra help.

Lemon zest: I also added some lemon zest into the mixture to bring some extra citrusy flavor. This one’s optional though.

Ginger: Fresh ginger extracts have powerful anti-inflammatory effects that make it an incredible natural cold remedy.

Honey: I would recommend using raw honey to get the powerful antibacterial and antiviral effects into the syrup. I used local honey that I picked up from a farmer’s market.

Sea salt: I also added a bit of sea salt to enhance the flavors of the syrup.

Olive oil: Olive oil acts as a natural preservative for this ginger syrup recipe. It is an absolute must if you’re planning on making it in a big batch and enjoying it all year around.

Tips & Tricks to Nail the Recipe

  • Remember to wash the lemon and ginger thoroughly and pat dry before you use them for the recipe.
  • If you’re not too sure if you’ll enjoy the texture the pieces of ginger bring into the syrup, you can choose to finely grind or mince the ginger, strain it and then use the ginger juice for this ginger lemon honey syrup.
  • Another great idea to simplify the recipe is to add all the ingredients- minus the honey into a food processor or a blender, and blend it together until you get a smooth, uniform mixture. You can then strain this, add honey and store the liquid portion in the refrigerator.
