Ingredients

  • 1 cup turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions

  • Add the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and pepper in a pot.
  • Turn on the heat and gradually add in water, stirring the mixture constantly for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Once the mixture turns fragrant and the water has started to dry up, turn off the heat.
  • Now add in the coconut oil and give it all a good mix.

Notes

  • To bring a different flavor to the golden paste, you can swap the cinnamon powder in the recipe for powdered nutmeg or even cardamom.
  • You can adjust the thickness of the paste by adding more water, if needed.
  • Remember to keep the heat low at all times. Cooking this on high heat can cause the turmeric to burn and lose its nutritional benefits too.
  • Make sure you use a metal spoon or spatula when making this turmeric golden milk paste, as the turmeric can stain your silicone or plastic ones.
