1 cabbage 2 tablespoon vinegar ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes ½ teaspoon mixed herb seasoning 1 tablespoon sugar ⅛ teaspoon salt ⅛ teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon oil
Finely shred the cabbage and place it in a large mixing bowl.
Sprinkle the cabbage with the sugar and salt and toss well to combine.
Let the cabbage sit for 30 minutes to release excess moisture.
Meanwhile, whisk together the oil, vinegar, salt, mixed herb seasoning, red pepper flakes and black pepper in a small bowl.
Drain and discard the liquid that has collected at the bottom of the cabbage bowl.
Pour the vinaigrette over the cabbage.
Toss well until all the cabbage is evenly coated.
Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
For the best flavor, refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Finely shredded cabbage gives the best texture.
This salad tastes even better after a few hours in the refrigerator.
Apple cider vinegar can be substituted for white vinegar.
Add carrots, onions or fresh herbs for extra flavor and color.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
