In a pan over medium heat, combine all the ingredients and stir until it starts to bubble up.
Take it off heat, allow it to cool down completely and then transfer to an airtight jar or container.

If you can, make this sauce a few days ahead of time and let it sit in the refrigerator. This will deepen the flavors further and you'll get the perfect savory and delicious BBQ sauce.
When it comes to seasoning the sauce, start with a little, taste and adjust as per your liking.
Cook the sauce on low heat and keep stirring continuously. Since the base of the sauce is ketchup, expect some splatters too!
For a bit of extra flavor, you can also add some dry mustard powder into the mix if you have it at hand.
